First Ministers endorse full labour mobility across Canada

On January 16, 2009 Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Provincial Premiers and Territorial Leaders endorsed two key amendments to the Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) to help ensure Canadian workers have the freedom to work in their fields anywhere in Canada. The AIT’s revised Labour Mobility Chapter will provide that any optometrist in good standing and licensed/registered by a regulatory authority in one province or territory will be recognized as qualified for that same occupation by all other provinces and territories.
